STUDENTS ADMISSION AND GRADUATION POLICY
Admission policy of MOUAU abides by the Federal Government policy on admission of students into the tertiary institutions as may be provided by the National Policy on Education.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENT
Candidates seeking admission into B.Sc. degree program in Statistics, apart from satisfying the Michael Okpara University minimum entry requirements, must have credit level passes at the Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (S.S.C.E) or equivalent in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and either Biology or Agricultural Science or Geography/Economics or Further mathematics.
UTME: Candidates are usually admitted into 100-Level of the Department of Statistics after passing the Joint Matriculation Examinations Board (JAMB) examination and the University’s screening test. However, such candidates must write English Language, Mathematics and any two of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Agriculture, Economics and Geography in unified tertiary matriculation examination (UTME).
DIRECT ENTRY: In addition to the admission requirements, the Direct Entry candidates with at least two A level passes (graded A-E) at the GCE/IJMB Advanced Level in relevant subjects (Mathematics, Physics and Further-Mathematics) may be admitted into 200- Level. Also, candidates with Ordinary National Diploma Certificate (OND) or its equivalent in Mathematics or Statistics could be considered for Direct Entry Admission into the 200-Level while those with Higher National Diploma or its equivalent could be considered for 300-Level. However, each University reserves the right to review its criteria for admission into Direct Entry.
GRADUATION REQUIREMENT
To be eligible for graduation from the four-year Bachelor of Science (B.Sc. (Hons)) degree) programme in Statistics, UTME students must pass and obtain a minimum of 120 credit units, while direct entry students starting from 200-Level must pass and obtain a minimum of 90 credit units.
