    • RESEARCH ENGAGEMENT
    • 1985-1999: Soybean Research involving personal and national researches in soybean science, processing and utilization, facilitated by University and National Soybean Association funding. The research was among other things targeted at bridging the food and protein gaps that existed during the Structural Adjustment Program period through popularization of soybean utilization in the homes and health institutions. One of the emerging technologies adopted for achieving this and which is still being explored for other food processing is the EXTRUSION process.
    • AD 2000-to date: Cassava Processing Research involving personal, national and international researches on cassava. Within the period have worked with undergraduate and post graduate students to address the processing, handling and popularization of the lesser known shredded cassava product, Ighu or Abacha, as one of the household food security products in South Eastern Nigeria. To this end we have been able to fabricate and model the use of a motorized machine for the processing of cassava into the product, as well as establishing the age of cassava that should give optimum yield of the product.
    • AD 2012 to date: Rice processing involving national and international research funded by Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) rice project on “Enhancing Food Security in Africa through the improvement of rice post-harvest handling, marketing and the development of new rice-based products”. The project has already produced two MSc graduates and has the potential to produce more.
    • AD 2013 to date: Cassava processing into High Quality Cassava bread on “Improving quality, nutrition and health impacts of inclusion of cassava flour in bread formulation in West Africa (Nigeria & Ghana)”. It is a multi-University research sponsored by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) awarded jointly through the McGill University Canada and the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Ibadan. Four MSc graduates are expected from it before the end of 2015.
    • AD 2014 to date: Cassava processing research on “Enhancing the competitiveness of high quality cassava flour (HQCF) value chain in West and Central Africa”. This is another IFAD sponsored research through IITA, Ibadan.
    • Collaborative research with the College of Engineering and Engineering Technology sponsored at national level on “Development and performance of Active and Passive Solar Dryers primed with solar cells” led by Engr. Dr. A.B. Eke and Prof M.O. Iwe.
    • Collaborative research with the College of Engineering and Engineering Technology sponsored at national level on “Development of motorized cassava root shredding machine” led by Engr. Dr. Etoamaihe and Prof M.O. Iwe and sponsored by the Raw Materials Research Development Council in 2012
